VANS
two full size window murals for the #vanstasticholiday campaign.
For the second year in a row I worked with Vans and Skye Victoria Projects to bring to add a festive makeover to the Grafton Street store of Vans.
This year’s theme was to celebrate the ‘Vanstastic Holiday’, which was open for each of the artists involved across Europe to interpret.
My piece centred around bright and bold Vans Christmas wreath, that was made up of retro florals, iconic Vans shoes and checkerboard baubles. A giant ribbon ‘tied’ the wreath to the ceiling, while the bow flowed across the shop front to merge into the design on the left hand side.
I wanted to reinforce the campaign by making the text as large and standout as possible, integrating elements from the wreath between the type.
To add a local feel to the design I made sure to include ‘Nollaig shona daoibh’ to the soles of one shoe, and ‘Rocky road to Dublin’ on the other - a festive welcome home and a nod to all those expats that return home for the Christmas season.
As a quirky add on - I had hoped that the wreath would act as fun/silly photo op - using the circular design as a frame for any festive photos!
