bringing together local artists to transform the underpass

An initiative lead by Seedhead Arts and fronted by the local council, myself along with four other artists were invited together to a community ‘jam’ which saw the underpass in Larne town host a dj, seating area and photographers over the course of the day where we painted the pillars.
I am originally from Larne and so I wanted to create a design that felt uplifting and optimistic, in an area which typically not thought of very highly. The local community in larne are incredibly receptive to art and to change and are pioneering a new generation of people in a town which welcome a transgression from its history, and so my piece ‘Be the change you want to see’ I hope resonates with the locals who are as proud of the town as I am.
