‘83

Decorative helmet commission.  

This was a bespoke design that I hand-drew using sharpie markers directly onto their motorbike helmet. The piece was designed to be a decorative statement item for their home. I drew ‘83’ centrally on one side of the helmet in an intricate style of typography, encircled by flowers and against an abstract linework backdrop. The reverse side mimicked the same background, but centrally featured a skull with the stem of a rose piercing through their tongue. Subtle detail was added using a silver marker on the numbers and the eye of the skull.
The rationale for either was no deeper than what came to me when faced with the blank canvas.
