COPELAND DISTILLERY

Creating an illustration that encapsulates the rebellious spirit of Copeland Navy Strength Gin.

The Copeland Islands were once the main smuggling port between Ireland and Scotland. Distilled in the port town of Donaghadee, Copeland Gin is called after its namesake, where John Paul Jones, captain of The ACS Ranger commandeered an infamous and bad-ass defeat of British navy vessel HMS Drake in 1778 in local waters. In a celebration of its history, Copeland Gin are releasing a Navy Strength Gin, paying homage to the 1778 naval dual and marking its release with a limited run of merchandise which aims to capture the renegade spirit of both the battle and the gin itself.
As a brand with a predominantly type based branding we visitd a number of concepts before landing on a central ship piece that was to become the basis of a new illustrative and nautical language for the Distillery.

Later projects with Copeland include a range of rum labels, further merch, covering a pickup truck and a 3m long mural on their premises.
